INTRODUCTION TO
PATTERN CUTTING
A fun yet in-depth 5 hour kickstarter where you’ll learn the fundamentals of building a block pattern from scratch. If you are new to pattern cutting, this 1/2 day lesson will equip you with the tools to start taking your designs from your head to your wardrobe!
Together we’ll cover:
Taking body measurements and making an easy to read chart
How to map out your measurements on pattern paper to create your block
What shaping and ease are, and methods to incorporate them into your pattern
Toileing your block pattern and marking it for amendments
Amending your block and tracing it out, ready to create a pattern for a real garment of your choosing!
You will (I hope) leave this lesson inspired and excited to continue the journey of building your own wardrobe!
This lesson, being only half a day, will open your eyes to the main fundamentals of pattern cutting, but we will not have time to create a full garment pattern from your block. I offer improver classes to continue on your personal projects, which are offered in 2 hour blocks as standard.
