A hands-on and experimental one-on-one 4 hour kickstarter where you’ll learn the fundamental skills to create a garment of your choosing through draping on the mannequin.

If you have fabric that you’d like to practice draping with, please bring this along to the lesson (the larger the piece the better!). As standard I will supply lightweight calico, pins, needles and thread.

Together we’ll cover:

• Setting up your mannequin and fabric for draping

• The main methods used to create different styles of drapes

• A mini fashion history lesson on some of the most influential couturiers who used turned draping into an art from

• Methods to sew and control your draping so that it holds its shape

• Recording your experiments using photographs and drawing

• Developing your favourite drape and turning it into a working pattern
